With most of our athletes on a break after a long season we had the last couple of competitions of the year this week.
On Wednesday Jodie McGrath took part in the world famous Cork City Sports at CIT track in Cork. 15 Yr old Jodie taking part in her first senior competition almost equaled her PB in the Pole Vault and should be really happy with her efforts. This weekend saw the finals of the All Ireland Community Games in UL. On Saturday the Templederry 4x100m relay squad of James Sage, Tom McCutcheon, Lewis Doyle, Colm Ryan, William Fogarty and Aidan Murray won the U16 relay final in a very comprehensive manner. On Sunday the anchor man on that relay Lewis Doyle became the first Templederry athlete to win an individual gold medal when he won a very close U16 200m final with a very strong closing 100m. Its Lewis's first individual all Ireland medal also. Seán Hayes representing Kiladangan reached the final of the U16 1500m and finished 6th in a very competitive race. I'm sure Sean will be a star of the future as he has come a long way in a relatively short time. The cross country season starts in approximately seven weeks so it's back to full training this week
