Yeshuah has come up with the idea to put himself (and his father Hergen) through the gruesome challenge of climbing Ireland’s highest mountain 8 times in 7 days, finishing off with a final climb of Moylussa in Killaloe Co Clare , the combination of these challenges will equal the height of the world’s highest mountain, Mount Everest. He is doing all of this to support Derg AC with track development costs, part of the funds raised will also go to the Mater Foundation and fellow athlete, Shaun Himili, who is battling Ewing Sarcoma.
For such a young athlete taking on such a gruesome challenge of endurance and perseverance it would be great if we could show him the support and encouragement he deserves. Society and Business
However, we are liaising with Sport Ireland and relevant government authorities to ascertain what are the specific implications to athletics clubs and athletes in regard to the guidelines.

We can confirm that all national competitions scheduled for May, June and July have been postponed until after the 1st August, 2020. We are actively considering new dates for competitions and events that are feasible to host based on the guidelines after the 1st August and we will communicate these decisions to you all as soon as possible.

We recognise that the situation is constantly changing and government guidance is being updated regularly we are also mindful that lockdown measures can be re-instated at any time during our exit from lockdown. Any return to activity and competition will consider all government messaging with the aim that we maintain the safety and well-being of the athletics and wider community as our primary goal.

We have established forums to consider our return to activity in the areas of Competition, Recreation and Clubs and we thank all involved for their time and expertise in these respective areas, the decisions being made are not easy.

The principles below will apply to all our decision making in regard to our return to activity at all levels and we hope to share;

We will follow all Government guidelines on any transition back to activity, with the aim of ensuring the continued safety and well-being of the athletics and wider community.

For all competition and events we will ensure activities are safe and focus on the well-being of athletes.

We are aware of a lead in training time required for athletes in clubs before any competition can resume.

We will need to be innovative around running athletic competition and events if restrictions on social distancing remain and we will produce guidelines to mitigate risk to enable competition within government guidelines.

We believe we are on the last stages of the journey back to club activity and competition and we thank the entire athletics community for their continued patience and discipline throughout this difficult time. It is pleasing to see the huge amount of walking and running activity that has continued in the last few weeks emphasizing the importance of our sport to the nation.

Nenagh Olympic Colouring Competition

https://www.nenagholympic.com/news/nenagh-olympic-colouring-competition

https://www.nenagholympic.com/news/nenagh-olympic-colouring-competition#comments

Uncategorized

Competition Time Some fun and entertainment for our younger members and their brothers, sisters and friendsSimply download / print the picture below, colour it in and send it back to us (scan it or take a photo of it with your phone). He will be back stronger than ever for the outdoor season.

Young Tom McCutcheon ran 54 sec for 4th spot in his 400m heat also and is making great strides despite being just 16yrs.

The kids were just getting into their stride now and our three girls in the 800m put up a brilliant show despite two being of the tender age of 16 & 17. It was 17yr old Sarah Lane who proved the strongest of our trio by reaching the final and running a 2.11 Pb in the process. Both Ailbhe O'Neill and Aoife Delargy also raced very strongly both finishing 4th in their heats and a lot of people took notice of the next generation of Irish female half milers.

Lewis Doyle never got going in his 200m heat and finished 5th.

Along with Sean Carolan in the shot putt was Michael Lynch and Dan Finnerty and they performed very well to finish 5th and 6th with Michael's best going out to 11.28m for a new Pb.
So after a great weekend of indoor racing it's back to cross country next weekend with the All Ireland schools Cross Country in Santry Demense in Dublin. It's always a great days racing and all the athletes are really looking forward to it.

The All Ireland juvenile U13 / 19 is on in 3 weeks in Athlone on the 28th & 29th of March.
