Competitions, Competition Entry and AAI Registration We do our best to announce competitions via the website/Facebook/Text etc, but it is not always possible to do so. The calendar of events can be found on the club website in the 'General Information' section and in the 'Competition...Next Up' section. We encourage you to use these links. When you use the Competition Entry form, that we have created on our club website, that request is added to a 'To-Do' list for the club's Registrar - Andy Hodgins. At this point you are not yet entered in the competition. Andy first needs to check that you have been registered with the AAI. This only needs to be done once a season for each athlete and is done before the first competition at the start of the season for competing athletes. If you have not yet been registered he must do so on the AAI Membership System. This can take up to 24 hours to process, during which time your Entry cannot be completed. This is one of the reasons we set an Entry Closing date that is earlier than the date you will see on the official AAI website etc. We also do this to make sure there is time to complete your entry. We are all volunteers with a lot of other stuff going on - if you come to us too late with an entry we simply may not be available to process it. Worst case scenario, but do keep it in mind! Once the above is done Andy takes that request and uses the AAI's Competition Entry System (called 'Entry for Sports' (E4S)) to process the Entry. Once this is done you are entered and your name will be on the start list. Payment
Checking / Confirming your Entry has been processed It is your responsibility to confirm your Entry has been completed and completed correctly. We do our best to announce competitions via the website/Facebook/Text etc, but it is not always possible to do so. When we do we will include a link to the Competition Entry 'start list' . Please use that link to confirm it. You can access the Entry system at any point yourself. You will not be able to use this to enter a competition but you can use the system to confirm your entry and / or view who is competing! There are two links - One for National Competitions and one for Regional Competitions (Munster or County Competitions.) Regional Link https://ireland.entry4sports.com/#/entry National Link https://athleticsireland.entry4sports.com/#/entry The following is a guide of how to use the above to confirm your entry. The following is a bit lengthy, but it actually only takes a minute to check! When you click on either of the the links above it will bring you into the 'Entry for Sports' (E4S) website. (You may see an error about a 'login' but you can ignore that as you do not need an account and do not need to login). The Yellow arrow above is pointing at the 'Competition' button. Click on that and you will be presented with a list of competitions. Following the Yellow Arrow above you can use that 'Filter' to Select the Hosting organisation i.e. Tipperary, Munster, etc. Once you find your competition click on the word 'Athletes' per the Yellow arrow above. This will then give you the start list for events in that competition. You can enter your name into the name field, 'Nenagh' into the club field or the event type into the 'TYPE' field. Per below. If there is a problem with the entry contact us.

Report by Sean Finn It was another busy weekend for the club with All Ireland combined events in Athlone on Saturday and the Munster juvenile relays in Nenagh on Sunday. Irish Life Health Indoor Combined Events We had only three athletes in Athlone and Ellen O'Dwyer had another great competition to finish 6th in the U16 age group. Our other two athletes Joe McEvoy and Darragh Miniter had a battle royal in the U20 competition and in the end after five events just seventy points separated them with Joe the national combined events champion and teammate Darragh in second with another Irish international Nelvin Appiah in the bronze position. We'll done everyone. Juvenile Inter-Club Relays, Pole Vault & Some U/17 to U/19 Field Events Munster relay day is always exciting with the cosy dimensions bringing the crowd close to the action and the resulting atmosphere is very special. We had 16 teams competing which consisted of 6 girls teams and 10 boys teams. We had many wonderful performances. Many ups and downs. Tears of joy and disappointment but that's enough about the parents. On the day we had five teams medal and and our U9 boys of Shaun Hanrahan, Daniel Cleary, Charlie Horan and Mark Minogue got their first medals ever in their first race ever for the club when taking the bronze medals after a fab performance. Our U16 boys squad consisted of 5 lads who have all won all Ireland cross country medals and today they showed they have a bit of speed when taking home the bronze medals. The squad consisted of Mícheál Moylan, Tom Walshe, Cian Hodgins and special mention to Ben Walshe who despite being a year out of age and the smallest in the field dug in at the business end of the race to hold on for third. The U17's of James Sage, Tom McCutcheon, Seán Hayes and Ben Connolly were our only gold medalists on the day. In second after three legs Ben Connolly was outstanding when pipping the Leevale athlete on the line for the win. Our U18's of Lewis Doyle, Pádraig Hassett, Tom McCutcheon and James Sage were just one second behind Leevale when taking the silver medals. Earlier in the Day Pádraig had won the U18 high jump and if that was not enough he then joined up with Josh Egan, Ted Collins and Lewis Doyle to help the U19 squad take home the silver medals. Josh and Ted will be pleased after putting in exceptional performances. We could easily have added 2 or 3 other sets of medals with a little bit of luck. Notably our U10 girls and U11 and 13 boys could easily have medalled with a bit more luck but that's sport so we take it on the chin and move on. Our Pole vaulters were in good form also with Jodie McGrath and Ben Connolly both taking U17 silver medals and Ben's little sister Sadbh Connolly getting a bronze medal in the U14 competition for her first individual Munster medal. Next weekend we have another busy weekend with the national junior / U23 comp in Athlone on Saturday and the second round of the National Senior league also in Athlone on Sunday. We had Indoors and Cross Country on this weekend and it was another good weekend for the club.
Our senior men were in Abbottstown on Saturday for the National Senior indoor league 1st round and we ended up in an excellent 3rd position at the end of the day. Joe McEvoy got us off to an excellent start with 2nd in the 110m hurdles and then Dan Finnerty back after a long layoff with a bad Achilles injury was looking absolutely ripped as he finished 3rd in the shot with a new PB of 10.50m. Young Ted Collins scored vital points with 6th in the 800m and Robbie Bennett is looking in top shape with a new 7.15s PB in the 60m for 2nd position. Mark Tierney got in on the PB action with a brilliant 3.30m clearance for 4th in the Pole Vault and Darragh Miniter finished off the day on a high with a jump of 6.58m in the long jump for another 7 points in the team competition. So we're in Athlone for the 2nd and final round in two weeks sitting nicely in 2nd position behind Clonliffe but in front of the other major athletic powers of Raheny and Donore Harriers. In an open competition on the day Paul White won the 400m with 49.5s for a good season indoor opener. As the saying goes and now for something completely different we had the County Senior Cross Country in Galbally on Sunday. In total contrast to Saturdays indoors conditions the county senior was run on a really tough course. Sticky muck, hills and water were the order of the day. But its horses for courses and our money was on David Sheahan who excels in these conditions. David didn't disappoint with an excellent 2nd place finish behind Dundrum's Kevin Moore who is on fire at the moment after winning a big 4 mile road race in New York over the new year. Incidentally David's brother Jim won the county seniors 30yrs ago so that in itself is a lovely unique piece of family history. Next weekend we have the Munster juvenile U9 / 19 indoor relays and the weekend after we have the All Ireland junior / U23 champs in Athlone on the Saturday and the second round of the national senior league on Sunday also in Athlone. Getting underway with the 60m we had three athletes in the final. Darragh Miniter was 4th, 16yr old James Sage 6th and Sean Carolan 7th. Sean had just run over from winning the shot putt in 13.25m. He also won the weight for distance with 7.71m. Not to be outdone our girls got in on the act with first of all two bronze medals. One by Jodie McGrath in the Pole Vault in 2.65m and then Sarah Lane dropping down a distance but showing good speed to take 3rd in the 400m with a time of 61.3sec. When the 800m came around 16yr old Ailbhe O'Neill showed that she is now a force to be reckoned with. Dominating from start to finish she went clear and beat the reigning All Ireland U16 800m champion Maeve O'Neill from Doheny in Cork by over two seconds. Ted Collins picked up the bronze in the junior mens 800m and team mate Sean Hayes was 4th in the same race. Tom McCutcheon continued his good form with 3rd in the junior 400m in 55.8 sec. Padraig Hassett was 5th in the same race in 57.02. That duo then joined up with Louis Doyle and James Sage to finish 2nd in the 4x200m relay. There was also an U11 to 16 combined event on today at the same time but results are unavailable at this time because of a very late finish time. We will get them to you tomorrow on our FB and Web page. Next Saturday we have round 1 of the national senior indoor league in Abbottstown and on Sunday the County Senior Cross Country takes place in Galbally at the earlier time of 12 pm than originally advertised. |
