There is a saying that there is always some madness in love and to love Munster indoor relay day in Nenagh it would definitely put you in that category. For a start it's a long , long day which starts at 10.30 am necessating being on site at 9.30 and the last medals were presented at 5.45 pm. It's constant action puts a strain on even the most seasoned coach . With 130 athletes from U9 to U19 competing for our club alone who all bring Mom,Dad , brothers , sisters , granny and grandad the atmosphere is electric in the intimate surroundings of Nenagh Olympic indoor track.
We brought home six sets of medals from the relays , one Gold to our wonderful U9 girls , three silver to boys U17,18 & 19 and two bronze to the boys U14 & 16.
There were two silvers and two pb's of 2.70m & 2.80m
For Jodie McGrath and Ben Connolly respectively in girls and boys U16 Pole vault competitions.
Darragh Miniter took the gold in the U19 high jump with 1.85m and bronze in the shot with 12.04m.
Seán Carolan got silver in the U19 shot with a fine 13.12m throw.
Joe McEvoy took silver behind Darragh in the high jump with 1.80 m.
Ellen O'Dwyer got her first Munster medal with bronze in the U15 long jump with a fine 4.46m clearance.
We also had some near shaves with three fourths . The U10 & 15 boys relays both missed medals by inches . The U15 s qualified second fastest but due to an Achilles injury to Cian Hodgins their chance to win the final was gone despite a fine run from the young sub Ronan Cuneen.
Grace Brennan cleared 1.50m in the U16 high jump but narrowly missed out on the bronze.
All in all we can be well pleased with the day with plenty of success and plenty to work on for the future.
So with our heroes on the day 10 years apart in age with Darragh Miniter U19 & our fabulous U9 girls relay of
Jane O'Rourke, Aisling Ryan , Kate Duffy , Molly Madden , Abigail O' Brien & Lucy Ann Cleary it shows we have a fine spread of talent coming through in the club.

Pictures of the day available on our club's facebook page and also on Doonen AC;s facebook page.  Well done all!
