All Ireland universities indoors AIT

The club had a busy 3 day weekend which started with the All Ireland universities indoors in Athlone on Friday. We took just one medal when Dan Finnerty got a silver medal with the UL 4x200m squad where he is doing his masters. This was Dan's second year in a row getting a relay medal but with different universities as last year he graduated from Carlow IT. We had four fourth places with Ciara Cummins in the 800, Paul White in the 400, and Deirbhile Ryan very unlucky indeed with two fourths in the high jump and shot. Margaret Mary Grace ran a swift low 60s 400m heat but didn't progress to the final.

Munster U/9 to U/11 Indoor Championships

On Saturday we had the munster U9/11 championships in Nenagh. This was a very competitive competition and while we didn't take home any silverware our athletes did us proud with a number of finalist. Fionn Tucker came closest with fourth in the U10 60m final. Well done to all who competed.

Munster Junior, Senior & Masters Indoor Championships

Then on Sunday we had the Munster junior U20, U23 and senior / masters indoor championships also in Nenagh.
Mark Tierney had a great day with 1st in the pole vault and 2nd in the senior shot.
Ailbhe O'Neill despite being the youngest competitor beat all comers including the seniors when winning the U20 title. This 15 Yr old has another 3yrs in the junior catagory so we look forward to seeing what she can do in the future.
Darragh Miniter also had a good day with silver in both the 60m & long jump in the U20 catagory.
Another young athlete competing in the juniors for the first time was Louis Doyle and he ran exceptionally well to take the silver in the junior 200m.
Aaron Quigley got his indoor campaign off to a flying start with a fine win in the U23 3000m. The Architecture student in UCD is more associated with cross country or road so he will be very pleased with this performance.
