Munster Medals Galore !!

The Munster Even Age Cross Country Championships were held in a very windy Two Mile Borris and Nenagh athletes did very well. Our athletes won individual, club team and county team medals  and we also had our first Muster Cross Country Champion for several years in Cian Hodgins boys U10.

Boys U10
Cian Hodgins won the boys u10 race in very tough conditions. This race was our first interest in these Championships and how well did this super group of athletes do, winning the club team gold having won the U9 event last year.  four of the lads were on the Tipperary team that won county gold.

Lets start with our champion Cian, and what a race he had! Up with the leaders from the start, he made his way to the front getting rid of his opponents along the way, Cian was not to be denied as he stormed to this great victory.  - A great team is made up of great individuals and this team is no different because following Cian home were four fine Nenagh athletes. Tom Walsh ran a brilliant race to finish in 6th place and was not far off top spot as he continues to produce great performances while Filip McIntyre and Zak Egan can be very proud of their races finishing in 16th and 18th respectively. Cian, Tom, Filip and Zak were all part of the Tipperary team that won county gold. Jack O Callaghan was the 5th member of the Nenagh team and as usual he gave his all, despite not being a lover of Cross Country, Jack ran very well to finish in 49th out of 143 finishers. Well done to the lads on their achievements.

Girls U12
Ailbhe O Neill was our sole representive in the girls U12 race and finished a very credible 74th out of 114 finishers.

Boys U12
In the boys U12 race Alex Reynolds was our first athlete home, finishing 53rd and although Alex was disappointed with this result he can look forward to his U11 race in a few weeks time. Eoin Moloney had a fine run to finish in 71st place with well over half of the competitors behind him while Joseph O'Donoghue who is still on the mend from an injury had a very encouraging run for 78th place.

Boys U14
Ted Collins ran very well in the boys U14 race and was unlucky to miss out on an individual medal finishing 13th but his efforts helped Tipperary to a county bronze.

Girls U16
Fiona Molloy and Alannah Deering were in the U16 girls race and both did excellently winning both individual and county team medals. Fiona was always well up the field and finished 9th while Alannah recovered from a fall at the start to make her way through the field to claim 10th spot and help Tipperary to a team bronze.

Girls U18
Ciara Cummins ran a very well judged race in the girls U18 event for a fine 4th place finish. Tucking in behind the leaders, Ciara was never far away from the main action and finished strongly up the home straight.

Boys U18
Richard O'Donoghue put in a fine effort in the boys U18 race where the standard was high and the pace hot from the start and a 17th place finish was his reward.

Well done to all of our athletes on the day who gave their all in very trying conditions and we now look forward to the Uneven age Championships in Dromoland on Sunday November 9th.
