Venue - Leevale AC Uploaded by Garrett Moylan, with thanks to PRO Ray Deering --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Several of our athletes competed in the Leevale Open Sports and had considerable success. Saturday Saturday’s events were for Senior and Junior athletes and despite the poor weather conditions, performances were good. In the Junior 1500m we had first places in both the men and women races with Ciara Cummins recording 4.51.58 and Tom Hennessy 4.21.34 to claim their victories. Paul White was 2nd in the 400m in a good time of 50.11 and recorded 23.44 in the 200m. Aoife Tierney finished 3rd in the Pole Vault clearing 1.90m. Dan Finnerty was 5th in the Javelin with a throw of 39.11m and clocked 12.21 in the 100m and 23.64 in the 200m. Mikey Quilligan was 4th in the 400m Hurdles in a time of 58.24, while Magaret Mary Grace ran 1.07.49 in her 400m heat. Our 4x100m mens team of Paul, Dan, Mikey and Tom finished 2nd in the relay. Sunday Sunday was confined to juveniles and despite only having only a few athletes competing, we managed to bring home some medals. Alannah Deering won the u15 800m and was 3rd in the u16 High Jump. Tom Mc Cutheon finished 2nd in both the u11 60m and the 300m. Sean Carolan was 3rd in the u14 Shot.

EVENT DATE - Sat 15/02/14 Venue - Glasgow Uploaded by Garrett Moylan - with thanks to PRO Ray Deering ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On Saturday 15/02/14 , five of our athletes competed in the Scottish u18 and u20 indoor Championships in Glasgow. It was a day of mixed fortunes for the lads that produced one medal, a few new personal bests and some dissapointment. Paul White was our medal winner, finishing 3rd in the u20 400m final in a time of 50.43 secs. With the heat and final run within an hour of each other it was a fine effort by Paul to come away with a medal. Michael Quilligan ran a pb of 52.95 secs in the heat of the u18 400m to finish 3rd but unfortunatley it wasn't enough to get him into the final. Dan Finnerty also missed out on a place in both the 60m and 200m finals despite his heat times of 7.43 in the 60m and 23.66 in the 200m. We had two competitors in the u20 800m heats but neither progressed to the final. Tom Hennessy was a little off his recent form when recording 2.01.88 in his heat while Gary Howard set a new pb of 2.13 in his heat. It was a nice trip for the lads as this was their last chance to compete in this particular event and we thank our hard working secretary Christine for looking after all of the arrangements. Paul White, wearing his Scottish Indoors bronze medal. EVENT DATE - Sun 02/02/14
Venue - Athlone I.T. Uploaded by Garrett Moylan, based on Nenagh Guardian notes by PRO Ray Deering ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The A.A.I. Games were held in Athlone and it was a feast of athletics with a mix of international and home-grown athletes on show. Nenagh Olympic were represented by Paul White, Tom Hennessy and Dan Finnerty and all three lads showed that they can compete very well at this level. Paul finished 2nd in the 400m with a new indoor pb of 50.40 secs. This was a fine run by Paul and had he been put in with a few stronger runners he may have benefited more and shaved even more off his time. Tom also was unlucky with his 800m heat draw as he too would have relished stronger opposition in his race. Despite this, Tom also set a new indoor pb when winning his race in style in a time of 1.56.40 mins. Dan Finnerty competed in three events on a busy day for him, while his Long Jump didn't go well, he had two good runs in both the 60m and 200m which we hope will lead to success as the season progresses. Venue - Nenagh Olympic Complex Uploaded by Garrett Moylan, based on Nenagh Guardian notes by PRO Ray Deering ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our u13 to Junior open event was well attended with athletes travelling from three provinces to get some competition before their championships start. A full array of events were on offer to the athletes with our u13 and u15 sections well attended but we also had good numbers in the older ages which lead to some very competive races. A big thank you to all of the competitors and to those who helped out in the running of the event both from our own club as well as our visitors, it was very much appreciated.
