Venue - Athlone I.T. Uploaded by Garrett Moylan, based on Nenagh Guardian notes by PRO Ray Deering ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The All Ireland Junior and U23 Indoor Championships were held in Athlone and while we had no medal winners in the Junior section but there were some good performances. Ciara Cummins set a new pb in the 800m with a fine run and was unlucky to be just pipped on the line for 3rd place. Tom Hennessy came through his heat in the 800m and finished 5th in a very fast final while Aoife Deering finished 5th in her 1500m final. Paul White and Dan Finnerty both competed in the 200m heats but despite solid runs, neither progressed to the final and Dan also just missed out on a place in the 60m final. EVENT DATE - Sun 12/01/14
Venue - Nenagh Olympic Complex Uploaded by Garrett Moylan, based on Nenagh Guardian notes by PRO Ray Deering ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our u13 to Junior open event was well attended with athletes travelling from three provinces to get some competition before their championships start. A full array of events were on offer to the athletes with our u13 and u15 sections well attended but we also had good numbers in the older ages which lead to some very competive races. A big thank you to all of the competitors and to those who helped out in the running of the event both from our own club as well as our visitors, it was very much appreciated. EVENT DATE - Sat 04/01/14 Venue - Nenagh Olympic Complex Uploaded by Garrett Moylan, based on Nenagh Guardian notes by PRO Ray Deering --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Indoor season began with the staging of the Tipperary Senior, Junior and Masters Championships in Nenagh. Our athletes dominated many of their events. It was great to see the number of athletes that we now have eligible to compete as juniors but the down side of that is that we’re all getting older! This was a chance for our athletes to get a few runs in and give themselves a platform for upcoming events. Junior Women:
We had 5 ladies competing in this section and they all excelled in their events. Ciardha Maher won the Shot putt, was joint first in the High Jump and 2nd in the 60m Hurdles. Ciara Cummins won the 1500m and was 2nd in the 400m. Aoife Deering won the 600m and was 2nd in the 1500m. Emma Hennessy won the 60m Hurdles and was joint 1st with Ciardha in the High Jump, while Amy White was 3rd in the 60m. Ciardha, Amy, Ciara and Aoife then went on to win the relay. Junior Men: In this section we had 7 athletes competing and all did well. Killian Cullagh won both the 800m and 1500m , with Gary Howard finishing 2nd in both events. Paul White won the 400m and was 2nd in the 60m and Michael Quilligan finished 3rd in the 60m and 400m. Dan Finnerty won the 60m, while Tom Hennessy finished 2nd in both the 400m and High Jump. Richard O'Donoghue was 3rd in the 1500m. Killian, Paul, Mikey and Liam Finn then combined to win the relay. Senior: Oisin Fitzpatrick was our sole representative in the Senior section and he finished 2nd in the 60m. Oisin was joined by Richie, Gary and Tom in the relay where they finished 2nd. |
