EVENT DATE - Sun 23/11/14 Venue - Dundalk I.T. Start Time - ------------------------------------------------------ The first of the All Ireland Cross Country championships were held in Dundalk I.T. last Sunday where we had two athletes in action. Conditions were testing on this energy sapping, undulating ground and when you throw in the best cross country runners from all corners of the country, you are in for a feast of athletics. Against this backdrop, Ciara Cummins produced her best run of the season so far when finishing in 10th place in a high class girls u18 race. Ciara was well up throughout and as the pace picked up she was not found wanting, finishing strongly for her individual medal. Ciara was the 2nd Munster athlete home to help the province team to a bronze medal to round off a great day for her and she fully deserves this for the effort she puts into her training. Also in action was Fiona Molloy, competing in a National cross country event for the first time and finishing in 59th place out of 115 finishers in a very fast run u16 girls race. There was no let up in the pace of this race from start to finish and it was be a great learning experience for Fiona as she continues to improve from race to race. Well done girls.
