2013 saw 12 Nenagh Olympic athletes selected for the Munster Performance Squad training sessions. They had their first session Saturday 30/11/13 in C.I.T. (Cork Institute of Technology) All of our athletes were selected based on their results throughout the year and it is a great opportunity for them to train with other athletes from around the province.
Christmas Run:
Well done to all of our athletes who ran in the 2014 Christmas morning run from the C.B.S. It was a beautiful morning and a great crowd turned up to work up an appetite for the day ahead. Church Gate Collection: The club would like to thank all those who gave their time to collect at the church masses the weekend before Christmas. The weather conditions were very poor for two days but our brave souls endured it with a smile on their faces. Many thanks to those who contributed to the collection. www.facebook.com/nenagh.olympic
Hopefully this post will appear on our facebook page immediatley after it's published on our blog The Nenagh Guardian awarded Nenagh Olympic the accolade of Performance of the Week, in recognition of the fine performance by our athletes at the Munster Uneven Age Cross Country Championships
Our coaches Sean Finn and Ray Deering attended a Sports Psychology Workshop in Clonmel on Thursday 14th of November in Clonmel.
The workshop was entitled “Concentration for Competition” and its aim was to assist athletes and coaches prepare for competitions by developing routines to reduce distractions and focus completely on the task in hand, thereby delivering consistent performances. Canice kennedy, who worked with Olive Loughnane and many other athletes, gave the workshop and it was a very interesting evening with a wide range of issues discussed. Getting him in to speak to our +14 athletes is something the club should consider for the new year. |
