Boys U9 Liam O Callaghan had his first competitive race for the club when participating in the boys u9 race and did very well to finish in 9th place. Girls U11 Hannah Grace and Emma Mulcahy competed in the girls u11 race where both girls produced fine runs over the 1000m course with Hannah finishing 2nd and Emma in 5th place. Girls U13 Lucy Mulcahy had a very impressive run when winning the girls u13 race and we hope she will gain confidence from this achievement. EVENT DATE - Sun 02/11/14 Venue - Newmarket-On-Fergus, Clare Start Time - ------------------------------------------------------ More Munster Success! It was yet another successful day for Nenagh athletes at a Munster Cross Country event where team and individual medals were won. Our boys u11 team won a fantastic club team title and we had four individual medal winners plus several athletes who featured on successful Tipperary teams. The venue for this event, the Munster Uneven Age Championships, was Newmarket on Fergus and although underfoot conditions were good the course itself proved to be a very tough one, including an incline that was about 800m long - this had to be negotiated several times in the older age races. All things considered our athletes can be proud of their achievements on the day and many of them have now qualified for the All Irelands in Santry on Sunday December the 7th, we congratulate all of them. Girls U9 First in action was Christine Percy in the girls u9 race over 750m. Christsine finished 49th out of over 80 runners which was a fine run in a race that was fast and furious from start to finish. Boys U9 Ben Walsh was next up in the boys u9 race where despite being impeded when an athlete fell in front of him, Ben made his way through the field and finished 33rd out of 88 starters. Ben was Tipperary's 5th athlete home and he helped the county to a team bronze. Boys U11 Our boys u11 team exceeded all expectations by winning the club team title but I suppose we should never have doubted this great bunch of athletes. Over a tough 1500m course, which is the furthest that most of them would have raced, all five lads produced fine performances. Despite being out of age, Tom Walsh had his best cross country run so far by finishing in 14th place and he was followed home by Alex Reynolds (17th) and Cian Hodgins (19th). Both Cian and Alex showed great determination as they made their way through a packed field of 126 athletes. Luke Purcell was our 4th athlete home finishing in a very respectable 36th place thus ensuring gold for the team and Eoin Moloney completed the quintet finishing in 51st place despite suffering a foot injury during the race. Well done lads. Boys U13 In the boys u13 Ted Collins went into the lead from the start of this 2500m race and looked full of running. Unfortunately he would pay for his early exertions as the field closed in and Ted finished in 15th place which is still a fine performance against a quality group of athletes. In the same race, Josh Egan ran a very well paced race and finished in 28th place. Both lads were part of the Tipperary team that won bronze. Girls U15 Alannah Deering was another of our athletes to show the determination needed to perform well at cross country when despite suffering from breathing difficulties during the race, she dug deep over the final 1k of this 3500m race to finish 7th and will hopefully have gained confidence from this outing. Girls U17 Fiona Molloy continues to improve and really impressed with her 11th place finish in the u17 race where she was a year out of age but that didn't faze her as her performance showed. Boys U17 Richard O Donoghue had his best performance for several years when finishing 9th in the boys u17 race over a gruelling 5000m. Up at the front from the start (thanks Maxwell House), Richie fought hard throughout and when the going got tough he found something over the final 500m to secure his finishing spot. Great to see him back on form. Girls U19 Ciara Cummins was our final athlete in action when competing in the girls u19 race over 4000m and she put in a very solid performance to finish in 4th place. With the leaders from the start Ciara fought well as the field fragmented and held her position with a strong finishing surge which also helped Tipperary to a team silver. So, a very satisfying day for all involved and we await the All Irelands with interest!

EVENT DATE - Sun 02/11/14 Venue - Thurles Crokes Start Time - ---------------------------------------------------- The Cross Country relays were held in Thurles Crokes and as usual offered up great entertainment and excitement. We had seven teams in action and we had mixed results but overall it was a good day for the club. Girls U10 The first race was the girls u10 4x250m and our team of Hannah Grace, Christine Percy, Aoibhe Meehan and Catriona Finn were very unlucky to miss out on a medal finishing in 4th place but all four girls can be very proud of their performances. Boys U10 Our boys u10s were excellent winning our first gold of the day as they stormed to victory. Jack O Callaghan, Zac Egan, Filip Mc Intyre and Tom Walsh had a fine margin of victory at the finish and special mention to Zac who took a heavy fall but was quickly back on his feet to help his team to gold. Girls U12 Ellen O Shaughnessy, Emma Mulcahy, Eliza Burns and Lauren Spain put in a great effort in the girls u12 race but found the opposition formidable and had to settle for 6th place, but a good effort by all four girls. Boys U12 We had two teams in the boys u12 race with one claiming silver and the other finishing in 4th place. The silver medal winning team which put in a fine performance consisted of Tom Mc Cutheon, Padraic Hassett, Colm Ryan and Cian Hodgins while Alex Reynolds, Luke Purcell, Daniel Fogerty and Rory Grace were disappointed to just miss out finishing in 4th. Boys U14 Josh Egan, Aaron Morgan, Tadgh O Shaughnessy and Ted Collins were in top form as they strode to a fine victory in the u14 boys race where all four ran excellent legs. Boys U16 The final event of the day was the u16 mixed relay where with the nature of boys and girls running against one another leaves the result in doubt up to the end of the final leg. Our team of Sadbh O'Mahony, Craig Morgan, Alannah Deering and Fiona Molloy all ran well to claim the silver and finish the day on a high. Well done to all and thanks to all of our athletes who turned out for the club.
EVENT DATE - Sun 26/10/14 Venue - Turnpike, Two Mile Borris Start Time - ---------------------------------------------------- Munster Medals Galore !! The Munster Even Age Cross Country Championships were held in a very windy Two Mile Borris and Nenagh athletes did very well. Our athletes won individual, club team and county team medals and we also had our first Muster Cross Country Champion for several years in Cian Hodgins boys U10. Boys U10 Cian Hodgins won the boys u10 race in very tough conditions. This race was our first interest in these Championships and how well did this super group of athletes do, winning the club team gold having won the U9 event last year. four of the lads were on the Tipperary team that won county gold. Lets start with our champion Cian, and what a race he had! Up with the leaders from the start, he made his way to the front getting rid of his opponents along the way, Cian was not to be denied as he stormed to this great victory. - A great team is made up of great individuals and this team is no different because following Cian home were four fine Nenagh athletes. Tom Walsh ran a brilliant race to finish in 6th place and was not far off top spot as he continues to produce great performances while Filip McIntyre and Zak Egan can be very proud of their races finishing in 16th and 18th respectively. Cian, Tom, Filip and Zak were all part of the Tipperary team that won county gold. Jack O Callaghan was the 5th member of the Nenagh team and as usual he gave his all, despite not being a lover of Cross Country, Jack ran very well to finish in 49th out of 143 finishers. Well done to the lads on their achievements. Girls U12 Ailbhe O Neill was our sole representive in the girls U12 race and finished a very credible 74th out of 114 finishers. Boys U12 In the boys U12 race Alex Reynolds was our first athlete home, finishing 53rd and although Alex was disappointed with this result he can look forward to his U11 race in a few weeks time. Eoin Moloney had a fine run to finish in 71st place with well over half of the competitors behind him while Joseph O'Donoghue who is still on the mend from an injury had a very encouraging run for 78th place. Boys U14 Ted Collins ran very well in the boys U14 race and was unlucky to miss out on an individual medal finishing 13th but his efforts helped Tipperary to a county bronze. Girls U16 Fiona Molloy and Alannah Deering were in the U16 girls race and both did excellently winning both individual and county team medals. Fiona was always well up the field and finished 9th while Alannah recovered from a fall at the start to make her way through the field to claim 10th spot and help Tipperary to a team bronze. Girls U18 Ciara Cummins ran a very well judged race in the girls U18 event for a fine 4th place finish. Tucking in behind the leaders, Ciara was never far away from the main action and finished strongly up the home straight. Boys U18 Richard O'Donoghue put in a fine effort in the boys U18 race where the standard was high and the pace hot from the start and a 17th place finish was his reward. Well done to all of our athletes on the day who gave their all in very trying conditions and we now look forward to the Uneven age Championships in Dromoland on Sunday November 9th.
