Eleven boys and ten girls teams represented the club over the day which was a great turnout and a big improvement on recent years, which was great to see. EVENT DATE - Sun 25/01/15 Venue - Athlone IT -------------------------------------------------------------------- Paul White became All Ireland u23 400m champion at the A.A.I. Junior and U23 Indoor Championships in Athlone with a very impressive display of running, while Ciara Cummins secured a bronze medal in the Junior 800m. It was a super day of athletics in Athlone and while the winning of both medals was a great, we also had some other fine performances. Well done to all involved. Paul was the star of the show as he stormed to victory in the u23 400m. Having cruised through his heat, Paul took the final by the scruff blasting the first 150m and when the athletes broke off their lanes, Paul had left the field in his wake before crossing the line with a new indoor pb of 49.68. Well done Paul on a great achievement. Ciara Cummins once again put in a great battling performance and was rewarded with a bronze medal in the Junior 800m. After a very tactical 600m, Ciara made a very decisive move just before the bell and this broke up the pack allowing her room to make a burst to the finish. Ciara couldn't hold of the two top quality athletes who finished ahead of her but she can be very happy with both her performance and medal. Others in action on the day were Tom Hennessy who had a very encouraging run for 4th Place in the u23 800m (1.58.66), Deirbhile Ryan who threw well in the Junior Shot where she finished 4th with a best throw of 10.61m. Aoife Tierney was 7th in the Junior Pole Vault with 2.25m and Aoife Deering finished 10th in the 1500m (5.06.11). Paul White u23 400m Champion Ciara Cummins Junior 800m Bronze
