Venue - Thurles Crokes
Start Time -
The Cross Country relays were held in Thurles Crokes and as usual offered up great entertainment and excitement. We had seven teams in action and we had mixed results but overall it was a good day for the club.
The first race was the girls u10 4x250m and our team of Hannah Grace, Christine Percy, Aoibhe Meehan and Catriona Finn were very unlucky to miss out on a medal finishing in 4th place but all four girls can be very proud of their performances.
Our boys u10s were excellent winning our first gold of the day as they stormed to victory. Jack O Callaghan, Zac Egan, Filip Mc Intyre and Tom Walsh had a fine margin of victory at the finish and special mention to Zac who took a heavy fall but was quickly back on his feet to help his team to gold.
Ellen O Shaughnessy, Emma Mulcahy, Eliza Burns and Lauren Spain put in a great effort in the girls u12 race but found the opposition formidable and had to settle for 6th place, but a good effort by all four girls.
We had two teams in the boys u12 race with one claiming silver and the other finishing in 4th place. The silver medal winning team which put in a fine performance consisted of Tom Mc Cutheon, Padraic Hassett, Colm Ryan and Cian Hodgins while Alex Reynolds, Luke Purcell, Daniel Fogerty and Rory Grace were disappointed to just miss out finishing in 4th.
Josh Egan, Aaron Morgan, Tadgh O Shaughnessy and Ted Collins were in top form as they strode to a fine victory in the u14 boys race where all four ran excellent legs.
The final event of the day was the u16 mixed relay where with the nature of boys and girls running against one another leaves the result in doubt up to the end of the final leg. Our team of Sadbh O'Mahony, Craig Morgan, Alannah Deering and Fiona Molloy all ran well to claim the silver and finish the day on a high.
Well done to all and thanks to all of our athletes who turned out for the club.
